TFTM Youth Receive National Honors

Three outstanding participants of The First Tee of Massachusetts recently garnered national recognition. Dana O’Connor (Longmeadow, MA), Cora Bernier (Taunton, MA) and Evan Ryan (Norton, MA) will be attending prestigious Life Skills and Golf Academies this summer.

Evan Ryan, from The First Tee of Massachusetts, has earned the national designation of The First Tee Scholar - Class of 2013. The First Tee recently announced that 101 young people from across The First Tee Network were chosen for this distinguished honor.

The First Tee of Massachusetts

The home base of The First Tee of Massachusetts is located at MGA Links at Mamantapett, an 18-hole, par 3 facility in Norton. Satellite facilities are currently open in Springfield and on the North Shore. Each year, more than 1,200 youth from 35 different Bay State communities participate in The First Tee curriculum at these three sites. Additional satellite facilities are set to open on Cape Cod and in the Boston and Worcester regions over the next few years.

Research Validates

In a past independent research study of The First Tee, 73% of young people at participating chapters reported high confidence in their ability to do well academically and 52% credited the program fort their ability to appreciate diversity.
