The USGA and Chevron announce scholarship program for qualified high school seniors

The USGA just announced a great opportunity for junior golfers! Through its partnership with Chevron, the USGA has created a scholarship program for qualified high school seniors who are pursuing college careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) disciplines.

Qualified students should also possess a demonstrated interest in golf - a great opportunity for our bright and talented participants of The First Tee of Massachusetts!

Hopedale High School Senior Anna Haynes was named a The First Tee Scholar for 2014. The program, established in 2003, was created to recognize participants for exceptional achievement in academics, leadership, character development, and community involvement.

PGA Tour player James Driscoll supports Junior Golf!

James Driscoll, who has been a longtime supporter of Junior Golf programs in Massachusetts, recorded a special video message that was shown at the MGA Salute to Champions Dinner on January 9th. Driscoll was a volunteer with the ForeKids program, which turned into The First Tee of Massachusetts.

Three TFTM participants awarded scholarships through Lynnfield Rotary Club

Three deserving young men were awarded scholarships through TFTM's partnership with the Lynnfield Rotary Club and the Lynn YMCA. Having partnered with Reedy Meadow Golf Course, the Rotary Club has started taking proceeds from its annual Pro-Am golf outing to be put toward the future academic success of junior golf participants from the Lynn YMCA.

TFT Skills Challenge

On a picture perfect August day, The First Tee of Massachusetts and the Deutsche Bank Championship teamed up for the 3rd annual The First Tee Skills Challenge.

This year's event was attended by more than 100 participants and proved to be a great kickoff to the week of Championship events at TPC Boston.

Evan Ryan, from The First Tee of Massachusetts, has earned the national designation of The First Tee Scholar - Class of 2013. The First Tee recently announced that 101 young people from across The First Tee Network were chosen for this distinguished honor.

The First Tee of Massachusetts

The home base of The First Tee of Massachusetts is located at MGA Links at Mamantapett, an 18-hole, par 3 facility in Norton. Satellite facilities are currently open in Springfield and on the North Shore. Each year, more than 1,200 youth from 35 different Bay State communities participate in The First Tee curriculum at these three sites. Additional satellite facilities are set to open on Cape Cod and in the Boston and Worcester regions over the next few years.

In a past independent research study of The First Tee, 73% of young people at participating chapters reported high confidence in their ability to do well academically and 52% credited the program fort their ability to appreciate diversity.
